In Japan this word means a zombie，of all things．Battalion came to mean zombies in Japan after a Japanese distributor in 1985 rather arbitrarily changed the name of the film The Return of the Living Dead to Battalion．Japanese moviegoers thought that battalion referred to the zombies in the picture and began calling all zombies battalions．
